The following is the required uniform.
Tiny Dancers
Girls: Plain black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Hair needs to be in a bun or a neat ponytail pulled back away from the face.
Boys: Black shorts or warm-up pants, white T-shirt, white socks and black ballet slippers. Hair must be slicked back away from the face.
BALLET:
Girls: Plain black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Hair must be worn in a bun or a neat ponytail with all bangs pulled back neatly away from the face.
Boys: Black shorts or warm-up pants, white T-shirt, white socks and black ballet slippers. Hair must be slicked back away from the face.
TAP/JAZZ:
Girls: Plain black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers (for jazz) and black tap shoes. Hair must be worn in a ponytail. Bangs and stray hair should be slicked back and pinned away from the face.
Boys: Black shorts or warm-up pants, white T-shirt, white socks, black ballet slippers (for jazz) and black tap shoes. Hair must be slicked back away from the face.
Tumbling:
Yoga and or sweatpants are fine along with a semi fitted top. Ballet shoes are suggested to make moving in class easier.
Shoes worn for dance classes should not be worn outside of the studio. Black soled shoes are not permitted in the studio. Any articles of clothing not listed, with the exception of warm-ups (must be approved by the instructor) are not to be worn in class. Jewelry is not to be worn in class. We believe that strict adherence to the dress code promotes the proper discipline, attitude and performance in dance class. If a student is not in proper uniform, they will be sent out of class and will not be allowed to participate.
ATTENDANCE:
Students must be dropped off no more than 15 minutes before class and picked up promptly. Students late to class must have a valid excuse in order to be admitted to class. If the warm-up portion of the class is over, the student may be asked to sit and observe the remainder of the class. If a student must be late, absent or must leave class early, a parent must call the studio to inform the instructor before class begins. Students are expected to attend all classes consistently. If a student does not attend classes consistently, he or she may be moved to a lower level and/or be removed from the concert and costume fees will not be refunded. Make-up classes are available and must be scheduled with Ms. Jenny.
CLASS DISCIPLINE:
While in class, students must give their full attention to the instructor. Students may not chew gum, eat or drink during class and may not leave the classroom without the permission of the instructor. Any student talking and/or behaving inappropriately during class may be asked to leave.
PICK UP POLICY:
Students not picked up 10 minutes after class will be charged at a rate of $5.00 every 10 minutes thereafter. If you are going to be late picking up your child(ren), you must call the studio to inform us.
DISMISSAL:
Any student whose attitude, conduct, or compliance with these policies is found to be unsatisfactory with the Jennifer Santos Academy of Dance staff will be subject to dismissal from the school and the registration fee, deposit and tuition will not be refunded.
PROMOTIONS:
Each dancer progresses at an individual rate. The ages accompanying each class level are guidelines only. The instructor will notify parents and students when they are ready to move up to the next level of training.
OBSERVERS:
Parents, siblings, etc. are welcomed to come and watch students during class. Observers may watch through the window located in the door of studio. Observers are not allowed inside the studio except when the instructor invites observers into the studio. Siblings, friends and other minors are allowed to wait for students in the lobby area only if an adult accompanies them. Any loud or unruly behavior in the lobby will not be tolerated and may end up in being asked to leave if disrupting a class. Please do not leave children unattended. Food and drinks, except water in a closed container, are not allowed inside the lobby area, bathroom or the studio.
INJURY AND LOSSES:
Jennifer Santos Academy of Dance shall not be responsible for any personal injury or lost property. Please do not bring valuable items (i.e. cell phones, iPods, cameras, etc.) to class. If you need to contact your child please call the studio. If your child must bring a valuable item they may bring them into the studio only if it is turned off and they do not use them during class.
All of the above policies are meant to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all of our students and families.
